This new years has definitely been one of the craziest, most fun new years ever! ^_^ Started off by heading to town around noon, and meeting some people up at the Java. Afterwards 20 of us (12 girls 8 guys, something like that) went to the Fire Club. At first people were like.. oh I hear there's like not many people on the dance floor.. we sure took care of that problem! hah! =P Yup, danced until 6pm, good way to start the day. Then we had dinner at Nanglo while we decided what we should do. Most were in agreement to goto this party at the Yak and Yeti Hotel called "Sinners in Heaven." We didn't really know much about it except it's unlimited drinks, and it's held every new years eve and it's supposed to be quite good. $20 for unlimited drinks at one of the nicest hotels in Nepal... very tempting =P Unfortunately, Namgyal's mom and Chuki's mom were supposed to be there, so those 2 girls couldn't go.. meaning Tsering and Arif (their bfs) couldn't go either =\ After sitting around the Java for 2 hours trying to make a decision, we decided to just goto Yak and Yeti and meet up with the 2 couples later on (also spurred by the fact that Jigtak's wife [not literally =p] was going to Yak and Yeti.. hah). When we got inside the party, me and Jigtak were completely shocked. The party was held inside a huge ballroom, with stairs that go up to a circular hallway looking over the dance floor. The hallway led to another ballroom where the drinks were being served. Also glass elevators that overlooked the ballroom took you up there if you were too drunk/lazy to walk =P A disco ball hung from the top of the ceiling, and above that was a net with lots and lots of balloons for 12am. The environment was better than all the parties I've gone to in the west! =P
That's the Yak and Yeti. Add a bajillion people to have the place packed and it was quite a happening place to be. A lot of our other friends showed up too so it was nice meeting up with them. The first 30 minutes of the party, Raphael was already on cloud9 from the unlimited drinks.. lol. One of Tashi's friends also was stumbling all over the place, kind of sad but kind of funny too.. =P The dj played a good mix of hiphop/trance. Quite a few amusing events happened to me there.. While we were dancing, some people were saying how the people in the elevator sucked at dancing.. then Samten was like, hey, go up there and breakdance! lol. I headed around the back and went into the elevator (not much space though), hit the 2nd floor then started busting out.. haha. Later on some guy in the bathroom was like "hey, I saw you on the elevator. That was really sexy" o.O Met a few other people that mentioned that incident, including some Australian tourist girl.. REAL Australian accents sound sooooo horrible!! Thank god Ali, Karuna and Charlotte have toned down accents.. heheh. Met another girl, she tapped me and was like "hey, you're Buddhist right?" "yeah.." "hello buddhist friend!!" lol.. do I excude Buddhism now? =P Another time, I was trying to just get water at the bar and it took centuries because the bartenders were drunk and there were so many people (when I got a screwdriver, it was 3/4 vodka in the cup o.O). So.. I hopped over the bar and got myself some water.. and then ended up playing bartender for a little bit.. haha. Later on, the countdown started, it was the new years, balloons fell from the sky, and everyone went nuts. Yup. Definitely a memorable new years.
Unfortunately, I paid the price of that party the next day. All day today I've had a hangover.. soooo bad, even though I drank damn much water (I guess you kind of get out of hand when it's unlimited drinks, not to mention I started off with white wine, then mixed drinks, then a glass of beer with Drew). Yup.. it was quite bad, I tried drinking more water this morning, and everytime I drank/ate, not to mention every hour, I puked. This lasted until 3pm, starting at 7am. I thought I was going to die >.< well not really but it was definitely one of the most miserable days I've ever had. Add to that the typical pounding headache and ughhh... but was it all worth it for the other night? hell yea!! ^_^
