today's philosophy class was pretty heated.. full 50 min debate between the professor and students! hehe. So what was so interesting? "Is mind different than brain?" which eventually led to "does brain pervade throughout the body" due to science and the discovery of the nervous system and how it's part of the brain.. and then does that mean we are destroying the brain if we amputate someone? huge scientific debate follows.. and then you hafta think.. what happens to the mind when we die? does it cease to exist? what about reincarnation? but then if we analyse truly, how can you give a name to mind? This somehow all relates to an argument in our text about how the parts of a chariot are not the chariot itself.. in fact the idea of chariot is not there at all. lotsa reading to do tonight =P
